The Overshooting Hypothesis of Agricultural Prices: The Role of Asset Substitutability

    Get PDF
By allowing for various degrees of asset substitutability between bonds and agricultural products, this paper reexamines the robustness of the overshooting hypothesis of agricultural product prices. It is found, in both a closed economy and an open economy, that the crucial factor determining whether agricultural prices overshoot or undershoot their long-run response following an expansion in the money stock depends upon the extent of asset substitutability between bonds and agricultural goods.asset substitutability, commodity prices, overshooting, Demand and Price Analysis,

Exploring the Identification of Expertise: An Experiment in a Computer Software Corporation

People recognize and express their expertise in several ways. In one way, workers can build personal profile to list their expertise. They recall their working experience and write some keyword terms in their personal profiles. In the other way, workers can build expertise in extracting from any documents they provided that includes studying documents, working documents or published papers. We want to know how the workers in the computer software corporation recognize and identify their expertise and explore the heuristics in identification of the expertise. We made an experiment comprised the above methods and invited 25 persons in a computer software corporation to participate and explore how they identify their expertise. During the experiment process, we found that (1) for most people, it’s hard to tell what expertise they completely have without any hint; (2) except these two ways, researchers or practitioners must innovate other methods to identify or elicit human’s expertise; (3) expertise in particular domain is rather than single term, but also multiple complex and related term sets; (4) expertise would be different with different audiences

Usability Evaluation of Mobile Commerce Website on Internet – An empirical study

Mobile network creates an environment that is convenient with fast communication and no localization restriction in which it is a perfect network environment for mobile commerce websites in developing business information applications and services. Two Shopping Malls also launched many mobile commerce website services to capture the gradually growing market. Depending on how convenient and fast these services that the website provides consumers, the quality of these services will determine the consumers’ decision to leave or stay on the website, and the usability of the website will be their deciding factor. This study reviewed how a website with better usability that offers consumers high efficiency and effectiveness with the ease of learning and memorizing have a strong influence over the buying behavior of consumers. This study used experimental questionnaire method to evaluate the usability in different Shopping Mall websites. Before the experiment, this study analyzed what would the expected processes and problems would be for these websites. After the experiment, this study compared the data retrieved from the questionnaires with the experiments of actual problems. The results showed that the psychology in the questionnaire and the physiology in the real-life situation of subjects corresponded with each other. In the usability guidelines, there are significant differences between Two Shopping Malls in the area of effectiveness and learning abilities. After the cross examination of the speculated expectation of the processes and problems on these websites with the actual problems in real-time, the results showed top three issues that were found on second Shopping Mall’s Registration Process played huge influences on the consumer’s behavior. This study proposed various ways of website improvements for better usability after analyzing the problems resulted from poor user interface design with the services provided on this website

The Design and Implementation of Collaborative Filtering in Data Mining

Data mining is the process of discovering explicit knowledge from large amounts of data stored in database, data warehouse or other repositories. There have been many studies about models of data mining such as association rule, sequential pattern and so on. Collaborative filtering is one of data mining models. In this paper, we propose two approaches to solving the mining process of collaborative filtering. Finally, collaborative filtering mining is applied to Knowledge Management system

Charge-Trapping Devices Using Multilayered Dielectrics for Nonvolatile Memory Applications

    Get PDF
Charge-trapping devices using multilayered dielectrics were studied for nonvolatile memory applications. The device structure is Al/Y2O3/Ta2O5/SiO2/Si (MYTOS). The MYTOS field effect transistors were fabricated using Ta2O5 as the charge storage layer and Y2O3 as the blocking layer. The electrical characteristics of memory window, program/erase characteristics, and data retention were examined. The memory window is about 1.6 V. Using a pulse voltage of 6 V, a threshold voltage shift of ~1 V can be achieved within 10 ns. The MYTOS transistors can retain a memory window of 0.81 V for 10 years
